Effectiveness and Efficiency: Random Reflections on Health Services

An investigation into the working of the clinical sector of the nhs strongly suggests that the simplest explanation of the findings is that this sector is subject to a severe inflation with the output rising much less than would be expected from the input. It is suggested than the inflation could be controlled be science, in particular by the wide use of randomized controlled trials.
